EXPO FERROVIARIA 2021 ITALY'S LEADING EVENT FOR THE RAILWAY INDUSTRY OPENS ITS DOORS IN THE EUROPEAN YEAR OF RAIL
Ribbon cutting for EXPO Ferroviaria, the event dedicated to the international railway industry taking place in halls 16 and 20 at Rho Fiera Milano.188 exhibitors from 14 countries are participating in the only trade show dedicated to the sector in Italy, with its tenth edition held in the European Year of Rail, identified by the European Commission as an essential step towards the ecological transition.

The opening ceremony was attended by Luigi Corradi, CEO and General Manager, Trenitalia; Aldo Colombo, General Manager of Infrastructures, Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Lombardy Region; Andrea Gibelli, President, FNM; Marco Piuri, CEO, Trenord; Giuseppe Gaudiello, President of ANIE-ASSIFER and Mario Virano, General Director at TELT.

Organised by Mack-Brooks Exhibitions, a world leader in commercial events management, EXPO Ferroviaria is strongly supported by the entire industrial sector, which sees the event in Milan as an important appointment to learn about new technologies and innovations, investments, policies and the future of freight and passenger transport. Olaf Freier, Director for EXPO Ferroviaria and the Transport Portfolio at Mack-Brooks Exhibitions, comments: "EXPO Ferroviaria, especially with this edition, shows its strong positioning and acceptance in the Italian railway industry. This is where the 'who's who' of the industry meets to exchange ideas on environment, sustainability, passenger and network safety and railway infrastructures - and to drive the development of the Italian railway industry. This year, for the first time, also about the topic of tunnelling", explains Olaf Freier. "After Railtex/Infrarail early September, EXPO Ferroviaria marks the second stop on the road to recovery for the European rail industry. Through this second appointment, we want to make a valuable contribution to the recovery of the railway markets in Italy, France and the UK. We invite everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to fortify and grow their organisation".

For the first time, EXPO Ferroviaria will also have a digital component. All registered visitors will be able to attend seminars and conferences virtually and arrange online meetings with exhibitors from the website https://digital.expoferroviaria.com. Two experiences that complement the event offer, similarly to other events that Mack-Brooks Exhibitions organised during the pandemic.

At the beginning of 2021, the PNRR - National Recovery and Resilience Plan was launched in Italy. The Italian government has prepared the document to illustrate how it intends to manage the funds of the post-pandemic Next Generation EU. It divides the intervention sectors into six main missions, including the theme of infrastructures and sustainable mobility. Investments in the railway sector will focus on high-speed and speeding up the network for passengers and freight, complete the TEN-T railway corridors and crossing sections, strengthen nodes, railway lines and regional networks and bridge the infrastructural gap North-South of Italy.

This and much more will be discussed at EXPO Ferroviaria thanks to the intense program of conferences, seminars and exhibitors presentations, intensifying visitors' experience. In detail, "European Year of Railways: Europe without borders", organised by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, will be held on the opening day, followed by "How Innovations can create long-term opportunities for rail Infrastructure Managers?" organised by NEVOMO and "The Lyon-Turin railway line 150 years after the Fréjus tunnel: speed and safety under the Alps", organised by TELT. Wednesday 29 September "The ecological revolution in rail transport" organised by Alstom Ferroviaria, "The Technological Transition. From diesel traction to new battery and hydrogen trains" held by CIFI and ASSIFER and the ANCEFERR conference "Solutions and techniques of intervention on infrastructure: environmental sustainability, evolution and innovation". On the final day, "Aerospace-Railways: examples of a successful technological alliance" organised by DAC - Campania Aerospace Technological District, followed by the Ferpress conference "The train and the driver. Organic deficiencies and training offers". The SIG Conference will also be held on 29 and 30 September, with two sessions on "Industrialisation in the maintenance and adaptation processes of underground infrastructures" and "Industrialisation in the maintenance and adaptation processes of underground infrastructures".

Amongst the leading participating companies: Alstom Ferroviaria SpA, Colas Rail SpA, Stadler Rail Management AG, Mermec, Knorr Bremse Rail System Italia Srl, ABB SpA, Hitachi Rail STS SpA, Lucchini RS SpA, Wabtec Corporation, Salcef Group SpA, Vossloh Locomotive GmbH, Vossloh Sistemi Srl Siemens SpA and many other industry key players.

EXPO Ferroviaria 2021 Show partners represent both the supply sectors and the leading railway service in Italy. Amongst them, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, FNM Group, FERROVIENORD, ANIE-ASSIFER – Italian Railway Industry Association, ANIAF - National Association of Railway Track Construction, ANCEFERR - National Association of Railway Constructors, ASSTRA – Transport Association, CIFI – Board of Italian Railway Engineers, D.R. "It will be the first time key players of the infrastructure and rolling stock sectors will meet face-to-face at an event of this stature, to network and exchange in a professional environment since the beginning of the pandemic. We have done everything we can to ensure that we provide a safe, but also extremely valuable and stimulating show for our participants. It's been a long road, but we've made it - we thank our partners and loyal exhibitors for their support over the last few months”
, conclude Olaf Freier.

The event is organised by Mack-Brooks Exhibitions (www.mackbrooks.com/about), which also organises SIFER in France, scheduled in October 2021 and Railtex and Infrarail in the UK, in May 2022 and. The rail exhibitions together aim to support the recovery of the European railway market.
