Île-de-France Mobilités inaugurates first Citadis X05 tram
In 2016, Alstom received a contract from Île-de-France Mobilités (previously Syndicat des Transports d’Ile de France) for the supply of 22 Citadis X05 trams. The delivery of the trams began last month and will conclude next October. Île-de-France Mobilités expects the trams to launch commercially by December 2020.

The Citadis X05 is 45m long and capable of accommodating around 314 passengers. It has been developed in partnership with Alstom and Design Saguez & Partners.

The locomotive has eight double doors on each side and a well-lit interior circulation. With this design, Alstom aims to increase the passenger exchange rate by 20%. It also features 100% LED lighting, large glass windows. The service includes Wi-Fi, eight extra-wide passenger information screens, route maps, USB sockets and bench seats.

According to Alstom, it is also energy efficient and 99% recyclable.

Alstom France senior vice-president Jean-Baptiste Eyméoud said: “Alstom and its teams are proud to be present at the inauguration of the first Citadis trams for line T9.

“With their particularly innovative design, we have total confidence in the ability of these new trams to meet the high standards of comfort and reliability expected by the residents of Paris and Île-de-France.”

Last week, Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP awarded a €530m contract for the delivery of 44 metro trains to a consortium of Alstom and Bombardier. The trains will begin operations between 2024 and 2026 on the Paris metro lines 3bis, 7bis and 10.
