ÖBB RAIL CARGO GROUP LAUNCHES NEW CARGO CONNECTION TO UKRAINE
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Railway, is connecting Ukraine to its intermodal network with the new TransFER Vienna-Kyiv.
As the leading rail logistics company in Europe, RCG already offers a wide range of TransFER connections across the entire Eurasian continent. With the new connection between Kiev and Vienna with stops in Budapest and Lemberg, the ÖBB freight transport subsidiary is offering the first regular, high-frequency intermodal connection between Ukraine and the numerous hubs in Central Europe.
Support Ukraine – keep the economic engine running
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has been providing Ukraine with intensive support with transport and logistics services since March 2022. In the agricultural products segment alone, more than 2 million tons were exported - more than 100 trains per month and more than any other freight company in Europe.
Many advantages for customers
In cooperation with the Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia/UZ), the RCG thus connects Ukraine with the European Union and beyond. This has many advantages for customers:
- Full access to the RCG's maritime, continental and Eurasian connections
- Trucking service to any European destination - starting from Budapest and Vienna
- Fixed timetable and attractive transit times, weekly departures in both directions
Traction in Europe on the standard gauge is carried out from a single source by RCG from the Ukrainian border. It will also handle additional logistic services such as terminal services, import and export customs and much more. On the broad gauge to the Ukrainian/Hungarian border, the partner Ukrzaliznytsia takes over.
