China-built 10th of Ramadan Railway Opens to Traffic in Egypt

The China-supported 10th of Ramadan Light Rail Transit (LRT) officially opened to traffic on July 3. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang attended the opening ceremony.

A 4,200m Key Passageway Tunnel along the Belt and Road Completed

On March 2, Dongshan Tunnel, a key control project on the Suqi Highway (from Sunan Yugur Autonomous County of Gansu Province to Qilian County in Qinghai Province) along G213 National Highway, was successfully completed, marking the completion of the passageway linking Gansu and Qinghai along the Belt and Road. Construction of the tunnel is undertaken by China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group.

CREC Tunneling Shields Contribute to Global Underground Construction Projects

A dual-mode tunneling shield measuring 9.98 meters in diameter and around 146 meters in length was debugged in the national TBM industrialization center of the China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. (CREG) on January 22. The equipment will be disassembled and transported to a railway tunneling project in Cefalu, Sicily of Italy.

Track-laying of Vientiane-Luang Prabang Section of China-Laos Railway Completed

On December 29, 2020, the CYP track laying machines of CREC arrived at the Luang Prabang Railway Station in Laos, marking the completion of the track laying between Vientiane and Luang Prabang on the China-Laos Railway and laying a solid foundation for completing the whole line by May 2021 and opening the railway to traffic in December.

Vientiane-Luang Prabang Section of China-Laos Railway Completed

On December 29, 2020, the Vientiane-Luang Prabang Section of China-Laos Railway was completed. Constructed by China Railway No.2 Engineering Group, the project lays a solid foundation for completing the whole China-Laos Railway before May 2021 and putting the whole line into service by December 2021.

Longest Tunnel of China-Laos Railway Cut Through

Anding Tunnel, the longest along the China-Laos Railway, designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and constructed by China Railway No.5 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., was cut through on November 28, laying the foundation for the completion of the entire railway on schedule.
